August 25, 2005 - Community Meeting Minutes

Attendees - Nate & Crystal Painter, Dennis Smith, Ken & Veola Burchett, Tom & Cathy Cherry, Chris Fassler, JP & Karina Larkin, Frank & JoAnna Pedroza, Bryan & Karen Penn.

1) Contingency Plan - Community in attendance agreed that Penns will take over Local Coordinatorship should Dennis get called into active duty. If Dennis will be away for more than 4 months then the community will have a formal discernment to find new permanent coordinators.

2) Review of 2006 weekends - see schedule

3) All agreed that last years weekend attendance may have been an anomaly and therefore agreed to keep the two hotel weekends for another year. We will re-evaluate next year.

4) Wedding Cards - Cherrys will take over wedding cards and Painters will take over receiving and distributing Time and Talent Sheet details as well as finding and scheduling host couples.

5) Name badges - Larkins need name badges for the weekend. Everyone else should have one. If not, please let Smiths know so they can order them for you.

6) Notebooks - We are out of the new notebooks and no longer have a donor to print them. We will use the old spiral notebooks with handout questions for the September weekend. We will discuss scheduling a notebook "party" at our next meeting (September 23rd). At the notebook "party" we will spend several hours putting together enough notebooks for the year (approx 450 notebooks). Dennis' work will allow him to utilize their printer (if we buy a replacement toner cartridge), the diocese will let us use their binder machine, Nate's customer will cut the donated 11x17 card stock paper and possibly print the color covers for us and the community can purchase the binders and regular paper at a minimal expense. We just need to put them together.

7) Meetings and hosts - Next meeting, September 23rd at 7pm, Painter's will host at their new house (1134 E. Castle Dale Circle (11660 S.) #495-7270). October meeting will be replaced by the Diocese Marriage Enrichment Oct 28th & 29th and the Focus Groups (check with Veola for details). December meeting will be the community Christmas party on Friday, December 16th at Burchett's. Usual $15 per person ($30 per couple) gift exchange and pot luck.
